The Piika ja Renki milieu, rich in atmosphere, is in itself an invitation to linger over coffee with a delicious cake, pastry or sandwich. If the weather is fine, you may prefer to sit outside beneath a sunshade, enjoy the intimacy of the picturesque gazebo or relax in the traditional two-seat swing. Pets are also catered for.
The shop under the same roof specialises in quality handicrafts, gift and utility ware. In other words, it is the perfect place to look for a souvenir for yourself, a gift for the hosts you are on your way to visit, or a birthday present.
The loft gallery puts on temporary art exhibitions during the summer months.
Welcome to the historical milieu of the Piika ja Renki café, shop and art gallery!
The Piika ja Renki café is famous for its fine coffee, delicious cakes and sandwiches. The buns topped with wild Finnish berries made by a local bakery are lasting favourites from one summer to the next, as are the open sandwiches. The café also serves savoury pasties, mouth-watering cheesecakes, fruit and berry flans. For children there are still and fizzy drinks, ice-cream, hand-made sugar candies and locally-made liquorice.
Visitors easily find they are in no hurry to leave – and a second cup of coffee is included in the price.
The Piika ja Renki art gallery puts on temporary exhibitions during the summer months. The season traditionally begins with the annual exhibition of the Elimäki Artists’ Association. The loft gallery in this converted granary steeped in rural history has inspired numerous artists to hold a sales exhibition at Piika ja Renki.
The following artists will be showing in summer 2019:
May: Elimäki Artists’ Association
June: Margit Peltola and Paula Noponen
July: Jaakko Puuperä
August: Anja Meri and Riitta Kärkkäinen
